Welcome to my corner!

I am so thrilled that you have not just found our website but that you have found my corner where I get to share a little about myself, my passion for mothers, and the journey to develop Baboo.  Please click on the dropdown tab for my blog - I enjoy sharing stories and thoughts so I hope you enjoy them! Once we have raised the money for manufacturing and are ready to launch the bottle, we will be recruiting our Baboo Ambassadors (new mothers that have taken the leap with us to launch and educate moms about Baboo)- I look forward to  working with all of them.  Have a blessed day!

Glad you stopped by,

A little bit about me

As a theatre major, I was drawn to creative expression and this ultimate love of creativity led me to invent Baboo. But between then and now I spent 15 years as a veteran daycare owner caring for not just infants but the moms as well.

I’ve always been told I look at things differently and that perspective has helped babies and moms for over two decades.  It is my greatest dream to help mothers connect to their little ones. So when I had a crazy idea about an invention, my family, friends and business associates all agreed that I should pursue it with the same passion as I have for caring for others.

My history as a daycare provider

I had been running a successful family daycare for six years, when a local mom had to return to work.  I began caring for her completely breastfed two month old little girl. Two weeks into caring for this infant, the trauma of not being able to breastfeed exclusively resulted in the baby not wanting to take a bottle during the day, and refusing to breastfeed at night! So what am I supposed to do? What is the mother to do? I had a screaming baby all day and the mom had a screaming baby all night. We tried to come up with a plan for her to come feed the baby but her employer wouldn’t allow for so many breaks. So the mother was forced to stop breastfeeding. As I comforted an overwhelmed mother, a picnic salt and pepper shaker caught my eye in the kitchen and I instantly envisioned a baby bottle that replicated the breast flow in a similar adjustable fashion. This was why I invented the bottle so moms didn’t have to be put in such a dilemma. This is one of my dreams. To help mothers transition between bottle and breast and back again.  Fast forward six years and I am introduced to a 10 month old baby. He has refused every bottle on the market and was only drinking an ounce at every feeding with most of it being lost down his chin. This strikingly similar situation had a drastically different ending.  As I put the baboo bottle in his mouth he instantly latched on, drank 8 ounces and didn't lose a drop! I tried to sigh quietly because in that moment I knew we were going change mothers lives.

My heart

My vision and heart for mothers is like Pharrell’s song, Happy. Sometimes we just need a little lift, a comforting conversation or something as practical as a baby bottle that works to make life easier. I had encouragement from others when I had my three boys and in our beautiful blended family when two girls were added to create the new "us".  Although there are tough times. we are all blessed to have newborns in our lives. It should be the happiest time of our lives and the least of our worries should be which baby bottle is going to work.

Why is Baboo different?

I was incredibly blessed to be able to breastfeed all three of my boys. However, over the years I have had the privilege to care for babies with feeding difficulties. First was the baby who wouldn’t bottle feed and then wouldn’t breastfeed because of an overproduction of adrenalin.  Then a baby who had a stroke in utero, followed by a 2-month old with low muscle tone and seizures, and another infant with a feeding tube born at 25 weeks weighing less than a pound. The list goes on...

I was acutely aware of the shortcomings in the bottle industry because I struggled on a daily basis finding a bottle to use for all of those babies. My heart went out to their working mom’s hoping to find the magic bottle that made it easy for them to switch back and forth from bottle to breast. I too wanted that for my own children. Why is Baboo different? It supports a breastfeeding relationship; no other bottle on the commercial market allows the caregiver to change the flow of milk while the baby is feeding.
